The car was inspired by the 1969 Mustang Boss 429, and it was widened by a whopping 9 inches for "even more aggressive look, says Galpin Auto Sports in Los Angeles, which did the work. The larger bodywork required bigger wheels and tires to proportionately fit the new profile of the car.

The hand-built custom Mustang was presented for auction in Scottsdale after making appearances at a number of high-profile auto shows across the country including the 2011 Los Angeles Auto Show and the SEMA Show in Las Vegas.

"The Scottsdale auction Barrett-Jackson hosts each year is a premiere venue for specialty hot rods and collector cars to be sold," said Galpin Auto Sports President Beau Boeckmann. "We are excited to be given the opportunity to bring one of our labors of love to this high-profile auction block with the promise of raising money for cancer research."
