One of the 20th century’s most controversial and fabled motor cars, a 1981 DeLorean DMC12 Coupé, owned by Miranda Guinness, Countess of Iveagh, is to be sold by Bonhams as part of the Goodwood Festival of Speed on 2 July 2010. The car, which has been on long-term display at the Robert Guinness Steam Museum in Dublin and the Irish Museum of Transport, has attracted a pre-sale estimate of £15,000 – 20,000.

James Bond’s legendary 1964 Aston Martin DB5 will go on the block at RM Auctions annual Automobiles of London event Oct. 27.

Complete with 007 gadgets seen in “Goldfinger” and “Thunderball,” the car is expected to bring in more than $5 million. Q’s famed extras include machine guns, a bullet-proof shield, revolving number plates, tracking device, removable roof panel, oil slick sprayer, nail spreader and smoke screen.

Because of a Jack Ruby bullet, Lee Harvey Oswald never had his day in court. The gavel has nevertheless come down on Mr. Oswald’s account many times since his death – if only at memorabilia auctions.

Be it Mr. Ruby’s Colt Cobra pistol or the cadaver tag placed around Mr. Oswald’s toe, ephemera associated with the assassination are not uncommon sights on the auction dais. The latest, conducted by RM Auctions on Saturday in Cresson, Tex., saw a 1962 Checker Marathon Taxicab from the defunct Pate Museum of Transportation, in nearby Fort Worth, sell for $35,750.

Included are a pristine case of 1990 La Tâche and 15 lots of the ultra-rare Romanée-Conti vineyard.
