One of the largest and rarest convertibles ever built, the 1949 Daimler DE-36 “Green Goddess” Hooper Drop-Head Coupe, will be offered by Bonhams auction house at their world-famous Quail Lodge sale in August.

Formerly part of the famed Harrah Collection, this Daimler – no. 52802 – was subsequently purchased by the late Wes Lematta and his wife Nancy, who then donated it to the Le May Museum where it has been on exhibit since 2007. Meticulously restored to the highest standard in deep two-tone burgundy with rich white leather interior, the car was a class winner at the 1994 Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance.

The current Formula 1 World Land Speed Record car, a 2006 Honda F1, nicknamed Bonneville 400, is estimated to sell for £10,000 – 20,000 at Bonhams Collectors’ Motor Cars sale at Silverstone on 24 July.

This superb car accomplished a speed of 397kph on the fabled Bonneville Salt Flats in the USA, setting a new world land speed record for a Formula 1 racing car which has remained unchallenged.

Through the Entertainment Industry Foundation, Academy Award-winning actor Tom Hanks, donated his customized 2004 Prius to support Welcome Back Veterans (WBV) initiative. Welcome Back Veterans is an initiative created by Major League Baseball to assist OEF/OIF veterans and their families with deployment-related mental health concerns. The 2004 Prius has been converted to a plug-in Hybrid and features an autographed glove box personally signed by Hanks.
